My History (3/97)
Dateline, 18th and Belmont Sts., NW, 9:00PM tonight, Wed., 26 March 97:
Overheard at the GIANT picture window looking out to the West toward the
northwestern sky, "Is that the comet's sparkle I see in your eyes?"
We're here on the second floor of the neighborhood's latest raucous and
oh so righteous nightspot, CRUSH. It was put together by the beautiful
and savvy women of the Toledo Lounge, Stephanie and Mary. Its in their blood, you
know, handed down by their dad who ran a club in Jamie Farr's hometown, on screen and off.
The club is in the former space of what once Bacio. They've completely
built out the first floor into a walk up bar and booth space with great
vantage points to scope the scene.
The second floor is an airy dance hall with plenty of room for you to show off those gifts and talents that you've sculpted in front of the mirror since high school. The picture window facing the street affords you a voyeuristic diversion if you're just cooling down from your romp on the floor or if you're seeking out that oh so subtle excuse to slide into conversation with someone in your sights.
I gotta go and play a little so I hope to see you here drinking it all
in!
I'll be the one on the blue BMMR.
